Taking place on Friday 10, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 March, the competition will see some of the world's most talented baristas and mixologists join forces in a quest to deliver the ultimate coffee cocktail to a panel of expert judges.
And the prize, we hear you ask? The title of Coffee Mixologist 2017, €1,000 cash and an exciting trip to London during The London Coffee Festival (6-9 April, 2017).
So how does it work?
Step 1 – Teams of two (one barista and one mixologist) are invited to submit a one-two minute video of their coffee cocktail creation online by 31 January, 2017. Something a little like these...
Step 2 – A panel of experts will review the videos and the top 16 teams announced.
Step 3 – The successful teams will be invited to take part in Coffee Mixologists 2017 at The Amsterdam Coffee Festival.
Round 1 – Each team will be asked to create their Signature Drink live in front of the panel of judges. The judges will score the drinks on their creativity, personality, technical ability and recipe creation.
Quarter-finals – The teams will then be seeded based on their scores with the highest scoring team competing head-to-head against the lowest, the second against the seventh and so on. Both teams will be given various secret ingredients with which they will need to create a new, innovative coffee-based cocktail. The four highest scoring teams will make it through to the semi-final.
Semi-finals – Another round, another set of secret ingredients. The two highest scoring teams will move into the final.
The final – The two remaining teams will then compete head-to-head with a new set of secret ingredients, testing their ability to respond quickly whilst challenging their creative talent. The judges will then score each of the finalist’s coffee cocktail creations with the highest scoring team announced as the first ever Coffee Mixologists Champion!

Lot Sixty One roasts fresh coffee daily in Amsterdam Oude West. It all starts with buying the best quality green beans fresh from the current harvest season. Beans are hand-roasted on a Probat roaster to celebrate the unique flavours of the coffee produced by the farmer.
For Latte Art Live, the expert team at Lot Sixty One has hand-selected a Brazillian coffee of medium roast that will have sufficient time to de-gas, allowing the milk to shine through the hazelnut brown coated crema.
